From 2026 to 2027

A 48/96 repeats every 6 days, and a year has 365, so each group's tours move to different dates every New Year. If you know your 2026 schedule:

  • First 2026 tour Jan 1–2 → first 2027 tour Jan 2–3 (Jan 2 group)
  • First 2026 tour Jan 3–4 → first 2027 tour Jan 4–5 (Jan 4 group)
  • First 2026 tour Jan 5–6 → first 2027 tour Jan 6–7 (Jan 6 group)

Print or save your 2027 calendar

  1. Tap Show my 2027 calendar for your group above (or set a date you know in the calendar).
  2. Tap Print and choose the year layout: all of 2027 on one page.
  3. Or use Add to calendar to put every shift in Google, Apple or Outlook calendar.

Frequently asked questions

How many tours does a 48/96 firefighter work in 2027?

60 or 61 tours start in 2027, depending on your group: the Jan 2 group has 61 tours, 122 twenty-four-hour shifts and 2,928 scheduled hours; the Jan 4 group has 61 tours, 122 twenty-four-hour shifts and 2,928 scheduled hours; the Jan 6 group has 60 tours, 121 twenty-four-hour shifts and 2,904 scheduled hours. The Jan 6 group's count includes New Year's Day, during a tour that began on New Year's Eve 2026. That works out to about 56 scheduled hours a week.

Who works Christmas 2027 on a 48/96 schedule?

Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday. The Jan 4 group is on duty, on the second day of a tour that starts on Christmas Eve. The Jan 2 group is off. The Jan 6 group is off.

Who works Thanksgiving weekend 2027 on a 48/96 schedule?

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 25. From Thursday to Sunday (Nov 25–28): the Jan 2 group is on duty Nov 28, the Jan 4 group is on duty Nov 25, the Jan 6 group is on duty Nov 26–27. No group has the whole weekend off.

How do I know which group I am in?

Find the start of your first 48-hour tour in 2027: Jan 2 means the Jan 2 group, Jan 4 means the Jan 4 group, Jan 6 means the Jan 6 group. Your platoon letter doesn't matter, because departments assign letters differently. Already know your 2026 schedule? A first 2026 tour on Jan 1 means the Jan 2 group, Jan 3 means the Jan 4 group, Jan 5 means the Jan 6 group.

How many full weekends off do I get on 48/96 in 2027?

17 or 18 of 2027's 52 weekends, counting only weekends with no work at all from Saturday morning to Sunday night (so no Friday tour running into Saturday). The Jan 2 group has 17; the Jan 4 group has 17; the Jan 6 group has 18. The full list is above.

Why are my 2027 dates different from 2026?

48/96 repeats every 6 days and 2026 has 365 days, one short of a multiple of 6. So going into 2027, every tour moves one calendar date later: Jan 1–2 in 2026 becomes Jan 2–3 in 2027, Jan 3–4 in 2026 becomes Jan 4–5 in 2027, Jan 5–6 in 2026 becomes Jan 6–7 in 2027. Holidays and other fixed dates fall on a different group's tour each year.

Can I print or add my 2027 48/96 calendar to my phone?

Yes. Tap "Show my 2027 calendar" for your group, then use Print (the year layout puts all of 2027 on one page) or "Add to calendar" for Google, Apple or Outlook calendar. Everything stays on your device.

Dates assume a straight 48/96 (two 24-hour shifts from 7:00 am, then 4 days off). Departments with Kelly days, trades or different start times will differ: confirm your official schedule with your department.
